About Val Boyes

I've loved art as long as I can remember.

I started out as a fine arts major in college at the University of Illinois, and took all the fundamental drawing, painting, and art history classes that I could. After two years, I decided to move to California and changed my major to graphic design. I graduated with a BFA in graphic design at Cal State Fullerton. I spent years freelancing for apparel companies designing logos, t-shirt design, and marketing materials. I have 5 kids and my years doing art ebbed and flowed during those years. By the time my youngest was starting kindergarten, all I could think about was painting, and I've been painting ever since. I started with acrylics and moved to oils. Sometimes I still do acrylics because I love the ability to layer quickly and approach my work with a more graphic direction. Right now I mostly paint landscapes because I love the colors, light and composition of nature, but I also love painting room interiors, and I plan on devoting more time to my interior scenes in the near future.  I hope you find something in my art that draws you in.

Painting feeds my soul. It brings me peace, perspective, and joy. I hope to be painting well into old age—and I hope something in my work resonates with you.

I accept a limited number of commissions throughout the year.
